YOUTH MINISTRY

Sermons“being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6

Youth ministry at First Presbyterian Church exists to bring Glory to Jesus Christ. We know that middle school and high school is a very important time in the life of a teenager with many important decisions being made daily. We believe that God wants to be active in our lives and that He has the answers to all of life’s questions. Together, we seek Him through student led small groups for high school students and adult led small groups for middle school students where we help each other to find God’s will for our lives. We also believe that we grow spiritually through serving others. Whether it is through mission trips to other areas of the world or volunteering in our very own community, we want to serve others with the life that He has given us. Our goal is to love God, love each other, and love those around us well. Our middle school ministry called Get a Life and our high school ministry called Light Zone meet each Wednesday evening from 7:00-8:30 at our youth house which is located at 221 E. Belleview Ave. Please come join us for an exciting time of learning about our Lord Jesus Christ together. Parents are always welcome!

Middle School Ministry (Get A Life 6th-8th grades)

Our purpose is to offer your middle school student a place of wonder and discovery as they learn Bible truths. Our goal for each week is to create an environment that is accepting, loving, and most of all teaches about Jesus Christ. We want to capture your student’s heart, intrigue their minds, and set them on a course of discovery as they enter into the early years of being a teenager.

Our middle school ministry seeks to bring middle school students into age-appropriate Bible studies, messages, music, and activities throughout the year where they can belong to the family of God, grow in their relationship with Christ, learn to serve, and then go share Christ in the world! We strive to do this through our Wednesday night ministry, our various activities and events for middle school students such as summer camp, weekend retreats, service projects, and vacation Bible school. It is our hope and prayer that your student will join us!

High School Ministry (Light Zone 9th-12th grades)

We offer an experience that allows students to worship God in a way that makes it easy for them to invite their friends. We also strive to connect our students to each other by encouraging them as they learn more about how to grow in their own personal relationship with God.

In our weekly Wednesday evening ministry students learn to prioritize their relationship with Christ, be a positive influence among their friends, and experience personal ministry. It is our hope that students begin to see the connection between believing that there is a God and living their lives to honor and glorify God. We seek to get down to the heart of the hard to answer questions and see how God applies to our lives today.

In addition to our Wednesday evening ministry there are summer camps, weekend retreats, service projects, mission trips, and other outreach activities planned throughout the school year.

Sunday School

On Sunday mornings from 10:10 - 10:50 A.M., there are classes for both our middle school and high school students at our youth house. Learning the foundations of the Bible help students grow in their walk with Jesus Christ as well as help them to know why they should make the choices that are God honoring in life. We hope that you will encourage students to attend the age appropriate class for them as they learn in a discussion group setting and safe environment through the use of Reformed Theology curriculum.
