What worship looks like:
Following Social Distancing and
practicing Mask Safety!
GREETINGS and WELCOME to this service in celebration and worship of our risen Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! If you are a visitor, we extend a special welcome to you, and invite you to make First Presbyterian Church your church home. We receive members by profession of faith in Jesus Christ, by reaffirmation of faith in Jesus Christ, and by transfer of membership from another Christian congregation. Please ask one of the pastors or an elder for more information or call the church office, at 863-465-2742.
NURSERY OPENED-- For both 8:30 and 11:00 AM Sunday morning worship services, for ages 3 years and under. Temperature checks will be taken. No symptoms nor fever of 100.4+ will be accepted for the safety of all children.
If you know of anyone who is in the hospital or nursing home, please call the church office to let the pastors know so they can be visited and included in prayer. We encourage you to pray for, call, or send cards to those who are hospitalized, or homebound. It will certainly make a difference in their lives to know that someone cares and is praying for them.
PASTOR APPRECIATION-During the time of the pandemic, we as a church are especially grateful for the pastoral leadership and guidance that Pastor Ray, Drew and Tim have provided. Please join us after both worship services in the gathering area for a brief reception to express our appreciation and celebrate their loving, faithful ministry to our congregation.

ELDER DEACON NOMINATIONS- Our nomination committee has started the process of creating a slate of new officers for 2021. We would like your input. If you know of a church member who you believe would be an excellent elder or deacon please share your recommendation with one of our pastors or current elders. Biblical qualifications will be considered in choosing the slate of new officers. There will be a vote at our January 2021 congregational meeting to determine our new officers.
JESUS LIFE DECALS- This is a strategic way to demonstrate that you are a follower of Jesus. Decals are on sale in the Gathering area after worship service each Sunday and in the church office Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM-3:00 PM, for only $5.00 each. The decal also includes our Church name and website. The decal has a clear background with white lettering.
NEWSLETTER DEADLINE— We would like to encourage all the different ministries to be sure that you get your news and announcements into the church newsletter this month. The deadline for the November newsletter is Friday, October 30th. You may email your articles to Cynthia Gambill at email@example.com.
CHRISTIAN WRITER’S GROUP—“A Newly Formed Fellowship of Christian Writers”. If you are a writer, would like to be a writer, or have never written but have the desire to do so, please join us! This is an exciting opportunity for Christian Writers in Highlands County to gather together and encourage each other. Sharing ideas and projects that each one is working on will bring fresh insight and valuable information to all! Please Bring: A notebook, pen/pencil, a Bible, a short story, poem, or article to share (if you wish). We will wear masks and social distance. The meetings meet the first and third Thursday of the month, from 10:00 AM-12:00 Noon. For questions or if interested, please call Cheryl Abney at (863) 599-8287.
WANTED: USHERS FOR 8:30 AM –We are in need for ushers (men and women) for the 8:30 AM worship service. Since we are not passing the collection basket, it basically consists of standing at the doorways and greeting the people as they come in. There is no handshaking involved and the bulletins will be sitting on a table for people to pick up. The ushering /greeting ministry is a way to show people we are glad they are here and to assist in any way they need. If interested, please call 863/465-2742.
PERSONAL NOTE OF ENCOURAGEMENT MINISTRY-During this time of sheltering in place, our especially vulnerable FPC brothers and sisters in Christ, who reside at home, in nursing homes, or in Assisted Living Facilities, need to know that their church family loves them. One way we can do this is by mailing them personal notes of encouragement. A list of these folks, along with their mailing addresses, is available in the church office. If you would like to participate in this ministry of being a blessing, please call Cindy Warrick.
